Myrtle Beach 2017 Day 20 Tuesday
After our morning exercise we drove down to Pawley's Island to visit Brookgreen Gardens. which we had visited many years ago.
Brookgreen has a few distinctive areas. The first is a small zoo of native S.C. animals.
This alligator is over 70 years old and is huge.
Brookgreen used to be a rice plantation, and slaves did the hard work of growing the rice.
This huge ponded area used to be a rice field - now it attracts a bunch of waterfowl.
Brookgreen Gardens was founded in 1931 by the Huntington family.
It contains over 1400 outdoor sculptures in a garden setting. Definitely worth a visit!
