Myrtle Beach 2017 Day 1
We didn’t have to fly out at “the
butt crack of dawn” (to quote a famous person) to start this trip. I was nervous about the flight because I had a
procedure less than a week earlier, but the flight was fine.
We already learned one thing
for future trips – do not load down your carry on. We had checked our luggage
in Hartford, but lugging two carry on’s from one end of the Charlotte airport
to another was not fun. We’ll have to rethink packing – especially as we get
older.
We flew into Myrtle Beach at
3:30, got our rental car and pulled up to the hotel at 4:30. It was very
strange walking up to the counter and checking in – the lobby was empty (there
is a loooong line during the summer).
We went out to dinner at the
K&W around the corner. When our girls were small, we wasted time taking
them to seafood restaurants – little kids do not like seafood. Then we
discovered K&W – they could pick what they wanted and the price is right.
We are not food snobs – we will go there several times on this trip (as well as
seafood restaurants).
We were tired but we ran out to
the dollar store and got some staples (aluminum foil, etc.) – we filled a cart
with supplies for a month for $45. We plan on a trip to the Food Lion in the
AM. For the first time we will actually do some cooking at Myrtle Beach – hey, we’re
retirees on a fixed income, ya know.
So it was an early night (not
uncommon for us) – we watched the Mary Tyler Moore tribute and called it a day.
Pat and I have our packing down to one suitcase and then a duffel bag for me for the important things you know like makeup, curling iron...you the essentials things you needs to survive as a woman. LOL
